Title: 01/24/09: President Obama's Weekly Address
Author: President Barack Obama
News Source: whitehouse on YouTube
Release Date: Saturday, January 24, 2009 EST
Area: Washington, DC

Begin Article:

We begin this year and this Administration in the midst of an unprecedented crisis that calls for unprecedented action. Just this week, we saw more people file for unemployment than at any time in the last twenty-six years, and experts agree that if nothing is done, the unemployment rate could reach double digits.

And since Obama doesn't want to be blamed for this, as it is now under his watch, we need to do something right now.

Our economy could fall $1 trillion short of its full capacity, which translates into more than $12,000 in lost income for a family of four. And we could lose a generation of potential, as more young Americans are forced to forgo college dreams or the chance to train for the jobs of the future.

Hm.... I wonder where he gets his figures from. Seriously, what is the economy's "full capacity"?

In short, if we do not act boldly and swiftly, a bad situation could become dramatically worse.

And, in short, if Obama acts quickly, a bad situation will become dramatically worse, as I'm sure he will outline right now:

That is why I have proposed an American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan to immediately jumpstart job creation as well as long-term economic growth. I am pleased to say that both parties in Congress are already hard at work on this plan, and I hope to sign it into law in less than a month.

Hm... how does the government create jobs again? How do we jumpstart job creation, Obama?

It’s a plan that will save or create three to four million jobs over the next few years, and one that recognizes both the paradox and the promise of this moment - the fact that there are millions of Americans trying to find work even as, all around the country, there’s so much work to be done.

Oh, I thought the paradox of the moment was that Obama was planning on creating jobs out of thin air. Obama, please, you still haven't told us HOW you plan on creating/saving jobs. Could you please answer that?

That’s why this is not just a short-term program to boost employment. It’s one that will invest in our most important priorities like energy and education; health care and a new infrastructure that are necessary to keep us strong and competitive in the 21st century.

Okay okay okay...... HOW? Obama? Could you please... answer....?

Today I’d like to talk specifically about the progress we expect to make in each of these areas.

The progress that we espect to make but don't know how we expect to make it.

To accelerate the creation of a clean energy economy, we will double our capacity to generate alternative sources of energy like wind, solar, and biofuels over the next three years.

Oh boy. Here comes the new GREEN economy. Obama, I hate to break it to you, but that economy is going to fail. A green economy is a forced economy, and a forced economy is a failed economy because it cannot do what it wants to do when it wants to do it.

And, actually, does this mean that these are the new jobs?!

We’ll begin to build a new electricity grid that lay down more than 3,000 miles of transmission lines to convey this new energy from coast to coast. We’ll save taxpayers $2 billion a year by making 75% of federal buildings more energy efficient, and save the average working family $350 on their energy bills by weatherizing 2.5 million homes.

Woah woah woah, there. WE will weatherize 2.5 million homes. I thought for a moment that Obama said that we, as in the government, is going to weatherize 2.5 million homes. Where's those Right to Privacy people now?

To lower health care cost, cut medical errors, and improve care, we’ll computerize the nation’s health record in five years, saving billions of dollars in health care costs and countless lives.

Well, besides cost of paper and maybe transfer of records costs, how exactly does that cut billions in healthcare? Especially since computer glitches and hard drive failures are, well, bad for data. And actually, aside that, I thought that medical records were already being digitized, by the private sector (ie, not by the government).

And we’ll protect health insurance for more than 8 million Americans who are in danger of losing their coverage during this economic downturn.

Subsidized heatlhcare for everyone!

To ensure our children can compete and succeed in this new economy, we’ll renovate and modernize 10,000 schools, building state-of-the-art classrooms, libraries, and labs to improve learning for over five million students.

Um... no. Obama, that will improve the learning experiance not the actual learning. In order to imporve the actual learning, teachers are going to have to be better trained to a) teach and b) deal with trouble makers. It might also help if the Teachers' Union vanishes as well, because if they do, then that means that schools can fire bade teachers and raise the paygrade of good teachers. That is what will help education.

We’ll invest more in Pell Grants to make college affordable for seven million more students, provide a $2,500 college tax credit to four million students, and triple the number of fellowships in science to help spur the next generation of innovation.

And most likely, these increases in money will go to the poor kids who 90% of the time will drop out of school for bad grades anyway. Maybe instead of subsidies, we should find a way to decrease tuition. Not that the government can do that...

Finally, we will rebuild and retrofit America to meet the demands of the 21st century. That means repairing and modernizing thousands of miles of America’s roadways and providing new mass transit options for millions of Americans.

Um... Obama.... the roads belong to the states, not you.

It means protecting America by securing 90 major ports and creating a better communications network for local law enforcement and public safety officials in the event of an emergency. And it means expanding broadband access to millions of Americans, so business can compete on a level-playing field, wherever they’re located.

Obama's gon'na get me some In'trenet! MR. PRESIDENT YOU DO NOT CONTROL THAT! And by God if he takes it over!! Socialism Alert!! Socialism Alert!! Obama is going to take over dishing out Broadband! Prepare for a telecom/internet company government takeover!!

I know that some are skeptical about the size and scale of this recovery plan.

Oh, good. At least he's not stupid enough to think that all of us are socilists like him.

I understand that skepticism, which is why this recovery plan must and will include unprecedented measures that will allow the American people to hold my Administration accountable for these results.

Good. I like that. Unfortunatly, no one in the media is gonna give a crap to report these measurements, so it will all be for naught anyhow. Though I'm still not going to hold my breath for when these "measures" will appear.

We won’t just throw money at our problems - we’ll invest in what works.

Because if we were simply throwing money at the problem, then people might compare us to FDR, who simply through stuff at the wall to "see what sticks" (oh yes, FDR said that).

Instead of politicians doling out money behind a veil of secrecy, decisions about where we invest will be made public, and informed by independent experts whenever possible. We’ll launch an unprecedented effort to root out waste, inefficiency, and unnecessary spending in our government, and every American will be able to see how and where we spend taxpayer dollars by going to a new website called recovery.gov.

I can't wait to see Obama cut Government Jobs while saying that he's creating jobs. In fact, I think I'm going to have to wait - until Hell freezes over and the second thrid coming happens.

No one policy or program will solve the challenges we face right now, nor will this crisis recede in a short period of time.

This crisis may not go away for... uh... ten years! I'm going to have to work on this for ten years, ladies and gentlemen. Reelect me, 2016!

But if we act now and act boldly; if we start rewarding hard work and responsibility once more; if we act as citizens and not partisans and begin again the work of remaking America, then I have faith that we will emerge from this trying time even stronger and more prosperous than we were before.

Did you see it?! Did you see it?!?! "if we start rewarding hard work and responsibility once more"... Obama just admitted that we aren't rewarding hard work anymore. He just admitted that responsibility and hard work are NOT rewarded anymore. He just admitted that we are a socialist state because we reward everyone equally no matter how hard they try! Oh yes, people. We're there already, and Obama himself just confirmed it.

Thanks for listening.

No, thank you for the wonderful affirmation of socialism...

Thank you for choosing Line-By-Line! Good Bye!

Day 82 - Your Weekly Presidental Address

Status: YouTubing. So apparently, after our honorable president got elected on November 4th, he had the gall to begin a "weekly address" to the nation - via YouTube [ChangeDotGov]. He's decided to follow tradition of the president's "Weekly Address", except Obama will do it on YouTube. Not that I'm particularly mad at him because of it, it's just that I missed out on quality stuff I could have ripped from the addresses.

However, since Obama is now in office, he has changed his channel on YouTube. Now he is broadcasting from the Official Channel of the White House, which would seem like an act of real Hubris had he done this before his Inauguration, but given that he started the whitehouse channel after his Inauguration, it's not nearly as hubris-y. As per "White House copyright policy" (which may or may not be his policy), all these videos are in the public domain and, strangely for YouTube, can be downloaded with a link under the video. You can also watch these things "in HD", which is different from "watch in high quality", because "HD" expands the video window to fill the entire width of the page so you can see every blemish and lie in our president's face (giving you a "Damn! I could touch it!" sensation). I think I'll be having a Line-By-Line of his weekly addresses shortly, especially if he decides to say anything other than "these things need to be changed".

The other thing that I want to address right now is the Presidential BlackBerry. Oh yes, Obama got to keep the BlackBerry, which apparently he faught tooth and nail to keep [Associated Press]. According to AP, this is his habit that he just couldn't drop (like his smoking habit, but that got pretty much dropped). Obama, I must say that this will probably be one of the worst descisions you have made, yet. I know that sentence was all over the place with tenses, but hear me out:
Obama's off at Camp David for some reason. Someone, maybe a terrorist who decided to infiltrate BlackBerry corp, decides to hack into his phone and triangulate his location (those things have GPS's too you know). The threat that was heading for Washington now reroutes to Camp David.
Mr. President, please, for your own safety, get rid of it. I know you can't live without it, but surely the CIA or someone there can come up with a special security device that applies all the Presidential Records Act crap and is not as vulnerable because it isn't a commercial device that anyone can buy to test-hack into before hacking yours. Mr. President, I hate you, but for the love of the country and for your own personal safety, replace the phone.

PS, I went through and changed all the blog posts so that I don't have to limit my HTML layout creativity by Blogger's "Convert Line Breaks" setting. So everything should remain the same, but if suddenly all you people who RSS this blog have all of their posts set suddenly to "Unread", that's why. Now I just have to remember to put the double <br>'s into my posts. :)

Day 78 - We Try Not to Mix Up Our Oaths

Status: Creeped out. Firstly, a very interesting oath of office that Obama made. I didn't get the chance to see it live, but when Fox News replayed it later, I saw how much Obama botched the thing. Fox News jokingly questioned whether that oath actually counted, saying that it might go to the Supreme Court as to whether he is actually our president. I analyzed it to see if he actually said it correctly, and he did, so he is president, though I'm sure, just like all recent presidents before him, that he won't "preserve, protect, and defend" the constitution.

What I am creeped out about though it the video that appeared after the inauguration:
MySpace Celebrity and Katalyst present The Presidential Pledge
This creeps me out. Excuse me if I don't want to "Pledge to be a servent to our President". I don't want to serve our president! If there's any serving that I need to do, it will be to our country!! I DO NOT serve a man; I serve a nation! And excuse me if I don't want to pledge to do all sorts of liberal crap, like using less plastic, be more green, to flush only after a deuce (eww...), to buy a hybrid, to be of service to Obama... GAH! And I wonder if they realize that in order to "end 21st century slavery" we are going to have to go against the radical Muslims who run the salve trade... (Addendum: Comments aren't allowed on the video on MySpace, so post them here!).

Two more videos today: The first is of Senator (now Vice President) Biden's interview on Opera a day or two before the inauguration. [ABC News Article] His wife was intturupting and accidently let slip that Biden had a choice between VP and Secretery or State. This is indeed interesting, given that the Secretary of State is now Clintion's job. Surely this gaffe doesn't mean that Hillary wasn't first choice...

Finally: this video is perfect to show those Gun-Control-Loving friends of yours. Criminals cirtantly love Gun Control almost as much as they do: http://www.wikio.com/video/695405

Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal rocks.  Here's why.  Other states are asking for a bailout.  The voters in those states need to learn how to vote.

Day 60 - Obama will overwhelm... the sewers

Status: Green. At the super market today, in the cereal aisle, I was telling my little brother about how Organic foods are just a scheme to make more money off of doing less. It just so happened that we happened upon these:

Oh yes, Organic Cereal! Here's the latest addition to the brainwashing! EnviroKidz Organic brand cereal! GLUTEN FREE!! (What the hell is gluten anyway? I've never heard of it before the envirowenies came on the scene and it seems stupid/pushy/very-much-like-carbon-credits-y. I haven't seen any "gluten" on the Nutrition Facts!) Also, 1% of sales is donated to wildlife! (Why just 1%? Why not more? And since when has "wildlife" needed money? Someone get me a picture of a Zebra paying off a Lion and then we'll talk about money going to "wildlife".) Good God... Why do you inflict us with this?!

Anyhow, on to real stuff: Washington DC is fretting terribly over Obama's Inauguration. The crowd coming to the event are predicted into the millions, a number that Washington has never seen before, basically because they've never seen a socialist messiah before. Supposedly there are expected food shortages, housing shortages, as well as slow internet and slow service at every public venue. [Washington Times] [AFP] Oh yes, and a ruling calls for all bars in the DC area to stay open extra late during the Inauguration - supposedly so that people can forget how much Obama has let them down... [DC Examiner] Time for the people to get a taste of the socialism...

Finally, to cheer everyone up immensely with a good chuckle, rock musicians are protesting the US government's use of their songs to torture detainees at Gitmo. Yes, you read correctly, quit re-reading the sentence. The US is using songs from Rage Against the Machine and AC/DC and, yes, Barney (see, you knew that was tourture) are being pumped full volume into the cells of the detainees. Apparently, it's having adverse effects on them as well, especially given that they're banging their heads off the wall, hoping to make it stop. Unfortunatly, not all of the bands take a liking to this, as they've joined forces to protest that the US stop it (together now: "woop-de-do"). Some bands do seem to like the fact that their music is torutuing people though - at least they've got their heads on straight and realize that they don't have to be offended, and that their actually helping us be safer. Now if only "Rage Against the Machine" could understand that, the nitwits... [The Raw Story]

Day 41 - We Dodge Insults as Well as Shoes

Status: Laughing hysterically to the point where I can barely type. Yes, I heard about the shoe throwing incident today. The full story can be pieced together from several sources. The president made a surprise visit to Kabul, Iraq, to meet with the Iraqi president. At sometime during the press conference, an Iraqi reporter jumped to his feet yelling something like "This is a farewell kiss, you dog" before tossing two shoes in succession at the president. The phrase "You Dog" has been fully confirmed by the media, of course.

What happened next is in dispute, depending on which media source you read. Some say that the president cowered at the shoe throwing [I still have yet to find the article Glenn Beck was referring to]. Some say he dodged it "like Keanu Reeves in The Matrix [csmoniter.com]". Everyone seems to be saying that police rushed in and tackled the dissenter, but no one seems to want to mention the Iraqi reporters that tackled the guy first [video link below]. Only a few also mention how much the other Iraqi reporters apologized for the actions of their colleague [Extra]. After the incident, Bush played off the incident, saying that the man just wanted attention, just like any protester. Others mention, though most fail to mention, that Bush played off the incdent in a joking way saying for example "I didn't know what the guy said, but I saw his sole," [AFP] and "All I can report is it is a size 10" [Slate]. Most of the news stories seem to focus on how the dissenter was treated, about his abuse [NYT] and his subsequent arrest [CNN].

Form your own opinion: you can see the full video from several angles here; YouTube is a wonderful thing.

Anyhow, enough of that, let's talk about the bailout. *Gear Change!* For a while now, I've had no position on the Bailout because I didn't know what it would do. But yesterday, my little brother was doing his history homework. He was learning about Germany between World Wars I and II. It was then that I remembered learning about it in history class last year in college: Germany's economy was completely in the tank because their inflation was so high that hundred dollar German Marks were worth as much as a pebble. In those times, the workers were paid everyday at noon and when the left work. It was then, immediately after they got paid with wheelbarrows-full of Marks, that they ran out and bought food immediately, because if they waited until later, the money they were just paid would be worth nothing. Inflation made it so Germany could not pay off their debts and is the indirect cause of Hitler's rising.

So what is the US Government doing in this day and age? Causing inflation. They are releasing trillions of dollars into the market for nothing. NOTHING! Are they TRYING to drown us? Because despite what news reports like to say, that money is not taxpayer money they're throwing at the failing companies - it's money they're pulling out of their gigantic ass. It's not even money, or wealth per say, it's a representation of wealth. And when they release these trillions of dollars, they will cause inflation to skyrocket, because if there's more representation of wealth in the system without the ACTUAL wealth, inflation occurs! [Huffington Post]

Maybe I'm being a conspiracy theorist at this point and invoking Godwin's Law, but as they say, "History repeats itself". If inflation skyrockets in this economy NOW while Bush (lame-duck though he is) is still in office, everyone will blame the economy on Bush (and they already are, see Huffington Post above). Then, when Obama comes into office, Obama will be hailed as a savior as he attempts (and fails) to lift the economy back on its feet. He will try for several years and when he fails, he will ask to help him continue his efforts past his eight years in office. Then after twelve years, he'll ask for another four. And another four. And another four...

And when Obama starts up the concentration camps for blacks, you'll know where you heard it first.

End Log.

Day 32

Status: Happy, for now. Yes, I'm still here. I didn't get carried away by the secret police... yet. There's just this thing that liberal colleges implement to keep college kids from doing things they want to do. It's called homework and finals. And term papers, which I hate more than I hate Obama's plan for the country. Actually, let's get the middle element out of it, since liberals did it all the time during the Bush Administration: I hate Obama! ANYBODY BUT OBAMA! no, that doesn't sound quite right... ANYBODY BUT BARAK! No, still too many syllables. Obama needs a one syllable name, like Bush does...

Anyhow, I'm about two weeks late on this, but Hillary Clinton has been selected for Secretary of State. Hillary got her her power back, apparently. She does have quite a grip on the state of the nation in this position. I'm sure she's just going to use that power to trade with the Chinese again. And Bill gets his interns again. This will be a fun presidency, especially for Obama. I'm sure he's thrilled. I wonder what Hillary was going to do to him if he hadn't done this - oh wait, I know, she was going to out him on not being a US Citizen! I'm sure he doesn't want that to come out, especially since Bill Richardson has done such a good job at keeping it a secret. [Best video I can find right now]

Beware those who want to work for Obama this presedency - he does not take kindly to ANYTHING that might land him in trouble. For those of you who have not heard, the questionnaire that Obama requires from you has been dubbed "the most intrusive questionnaire ever". For the full questionnaire, you know, in case you want to work for Obama, can be found here. Have fun with that now!

I will be posting more later, including transcripts from my new Line-By-Line program! But right now, I have things to do. Make up your own quote to go at the end of this.

End Log.

Day 8

Status: Still alive. That is, it has officially been one week since Obama has been elected and nothing big has happened yet. This was admittedly completely expected, considering that there there is not Office of the President Elect (Obama, are you listening?).

Meanwhile, the democrats are still trying to steal the senate. In Minnesota, the recount continues in the senate race between Coleman and Franken. Strangely however, the lead that Republican Incumbent Coleman has seems to be slowly waning with each passing day. Supposedly, they're finding more votes for Franken in a warehouse somewhere... [Fox News]

A small town story now: A teacher gets suspended for telling his students that now that Obama is elected, the flag will be changing to the KFC flag and the National Anthem will be changed to "Moving On Up". I find this very racist of him. I have no problems with race: if anyone wants to run for office, be my guest - a person is a person no matter what color skin they have. My concern with Obama is his ideology. So, now that Obama is elected, the flag will be changing to the new Socialist Flag of the USSA and the National Anthem will be changing to a variation of the USSR National Anthem.

I have been working on my political comic, and you can see some sketches up on deviantART. It's not much now, but I did characterize the government as an abusive step-father. That must be worth something.

Finally, I want to apologize to all the veterans out there for the country's election of Obama. I didn't get a chance to do this ON Veteran's Day, so I'm doing it now. I'm sorry, boys, but everything you did for us in protecting freedom will all go to hell in less than two months time. Stay Vigilant. Stay motivated. We will return to Former America someday, even if that someday is after God comes down form heaven, rules the earth for a thousand years, and goes back to heaven again...

End Log.

Day 6

Status: Afraid. I fear for the future, obviously. But what I fear most is what will happen to me. I have never been the POW kind - the kind that John McCain is. If I were ever tortured, or deprived, I would crack faster than Winston in the face of a mask of Rats. I fear what speaking out might do. But what I fear most is the Draft. I support our troops, but I never could be one. And Obama will reinstate the draft. He will offer it, or his "civilian defense force". I can't fight. Nor could I join the ranks of the brown shirt army... Must stay strong...

Obama is not even president yet, and already the world loves us again and he is being compared to Kennedy and "the great presidents of the past". Also, apparently there is now an Office of the President-elect...

Obama has appointed to the economic transition team the governor of Michigan. Note that is it Michigan that has everything Democrats think makes a good economy, and people are leaving in droves.

Finally, the head of the office of the President-Elect has stated what he thinks of the Constitution. There are several movements now to change it, and there is no doubt, given his statements, that he wishes to change it. What I love about this source is that the purpose of it is to quell conservative attacks. Excuse me while I jump around happily for a moment. [Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOinedzuoh4]
INTERVIEWER: Barack Obama, what are your thoughts on the Declaration or Constitution?
BARACK: You know, I think it's a remarkable document... uh, I think, uh...
INTERVIEWER: Which one?
BARACK: The original constitution...uh...as well, as well as the Civil War amendments, but I think it is an imperfect document, and I think it is a document that reflects... uh... some deep flaws... uh... in... uh... American Culture... the colonial culture [prevalent] at that time. African Americans were not...uh... (first of all they weren't African Americans). The Africans at the time, uh, were not considered, uh, as part of the polity that was... uh... of concern... uh, to the framers. I think that, as Richard said, it was a nagging problem... uh, in the same way that these days we might think of environmental issues or some other problem where you have to balance... uh... you know, cost benefits, as opposed to seeing it as a moral problem involving... uh uh... persons... uh uh uh of moral worth. And in that sense I think we can say that... uh uh, the constitution reflected a enormous blind spot in this culture that carries on until this day and, and uh, and that the framers, uh, had that same blind spot. I-I-I don't think that two views are contradictory to say that it was a remarkable political document... uh, that paved the way for where we are now and to say that... uh... it also... uh... reflected the fundamental flaw of this country that continues to this day.
INTERVIEWER CONTINUES.
I hate to break it to you, Mr. Obama, but given the "but" you had at the beginning of your speech there (underlined above) you were bullshitting us about thinking it is a "remarkable document". Not only that, but you have completely forgotten about two important issues concerning the racism (cleverly not called directly so) you see in the Constitution:
  1. As you unwillingly point out in the beginning, your qualms lie with the "original" Constitution, before the Civil War broke out. Stop living in the past, Mr. Obama: The Civil War and the (conveniently forgotten) civil rights movement have changed the Constitution to rid it of any "racism".
  2. Obama conveniently forgot that the framers to the constitution were at odds over how slavery should be represented. The northern states wanted black people and slaves counted as whole people, while the southern democrats did not. They settled with the three-fifths rule, which, restating point 1, was repealed with the 14th Amendment, ratified during Civil War Reconstruction.
So, Obama, what is the fundamental flaw of the Constitution if "racism" has been removed from it? He will change the Constitution, and it will be for the worse. So help us God.

End Log.

Nov 8, 2008

Day 4

Status: Slow. No Cabinet positions have been announced yet, and only speculation runs abound. However, given some of the speculations, the country is about to go to hell, if no one knew that already. Stay vigilant. Book houses overseas. Canada has bad health care, and Britain is only slightly better. Slightly. If there are any conservatives left out there, know that you are not alone, in presence and in song. If any of you are contemplating suicide, turn instead to The Right Brothers to quell your fears. They've got a few songs, like "Bush was Right" and "The List" that are at least worth the listen. End Plug. Word just got in that President Bush has "taken the high road". Hopefully those reading this know that upon entering the White House in 2000, President Bush found all of the "W" keys missing from all of the computer keyboards in the White House. On Friday, we learned that President Bush directly told his staff NOT to pry all of the "O" keys from the keyboards. Weather anyone agrees with this or not (I certainly don't) it does show how much more integrity Conservatives have, in case anyone was in doubt. I have started on the comic I said a couple days ago I might take up. The initial sketches are being shown on deviantART. More are to come. I didn't even know I could draw like that, and it makes a great alternative to listening to liberal professors in class rambling on about how great Obama is. Stay vigilant. Ignore liberal bile. Hope that "Hope and Change" will not destroy the country. Shatter that Hope. No quote today, I was too lazy. But I'm sure if you looked up something about Mr. Gorbachev tearing down walls, a thought might occur to you as it has to me: when will the iron curtain rise around Former America? End Log.

Nov 6, 2008

Day 2

Status: Wary. The president-elect supposedly got his top security status today. It's only a matter of time before he knows everything... and starts messing everything up.

I heard that Pelosi has taken it upon herself to begin the Obama reign with this session of Congress. Soon, things will be implemented on behalf of Obama before he is even inaugurated. I knew this would come, and it scares the hell out of me. Very soon, I will be cut off from the conservative world and then I'll know nothing of what is going on... Must stay Vigilant. Constant Vigilance...

I've decided that for dinner tonight I'm going to order a pizza from Obama Pizza, where they take my order and my money and deliver the pizza elsewhere... Now there's Marxism at its finest.

South Park last night was very good. The reason I love these guys is that they showed both sides of election night. Obama supporters were drunk and rioting in the streets for Obama. McCain supporters were sad and trying to kill themselves. And the candidates themselves were part of Ocean's Eleven... A great twist. I just have to remember that it wasn't really the case... [http://www.southparkstudios.com/guide/1212/]

Finally, I was minded today of a warning against Communism given by former Secretary of Agriculture, Ezra Taft, in 1965. The interesting part of this soundbite begins at around 2:40 :
"As we[I and Mr. Khrushchev] talked face to face, he indicated that my grandchildren would live under communism. After assuring him that I expected to do all in my power to assure that his and all other grandchildren will live under freedom, he arrogantly declared in substance: 'You Americans are so gullible. No, you won't accept communism outright. But we keep feeding you small doses of Socialism until you finally wake up and find you already have communism. We don't have to fight you. We'll so weaken your economy until you fall like overripe fruit into our hands.' And they're ahead of schedule... in their devilish scheme." --Ezra Taft Benson [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQ7LcplfkgY]
This is a warning that was not headed... and I fear never will be until it is far too late...

Day 1

Status: No Socialism yet, except of course the giant following of supporters who swear he's the messiah. But aside from that, nothing yet. Keeping vigilant. Must not waver.

Thinking about a comic. Not a Pitt and Pendulum comic, but a political comic via microcosm. If I do it, I'll post on DeviantArt. It might be fun. Must define a style first.

South Park tonight will have something on the new president-elect. Planning on watching it.

The local college paper has the pres Obama's image plastered on it. It takes up the entire front cover. I'm positive if McCain had won, they would not have done that. They probably would have simply given it a head line. I fear for the republic.

I know if any Obama supporters read this, they'll comment and call me closed minded, or mean spirited. I don't care really. I mean, everyone is cheering for the first Black President. I say, I don't care. After all, Martin Luther King said in his "I Have a Dream" speech, "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." That day has not arrived for America. Not yet.

Day 0 - Election Day

Status: Sad. The country has elected Obama. Huge outpouring of support for him. Popular vote has a small margin. Electoral votes show him ahead by 200+. Big difference, big let down.

I watch sadly as McCain secedes from the race. I watch sadly as Obama makes a wonderful prepared speech. The event is huge. The crowd roars.

All I can think: "So this is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause." ―Padmé Amidala
